Karen is a Licensed Acupuncturist in New York State and graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City with a Master's of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. The training there included Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, with 40% of didactic hours in Western Bio-Medicine. Clinical experience included 2.5 years of observing and assisting with treatments and in the final year treating patients under the supervision of a licensed practitioner.

As part of her clinical training she worked at the Initiative for Women with Disabilities; Hospital for Joint Diseases at NYU Langone Medical Center, Housing Works; Advocacy group for people living with HIV/AIDS and homelessness, and St. Vincent's Cancer Center. At the PCOM clinic she had the opportunity to treat patients with a variety of complaints including arthritis, anxiety, insomnia, eating disorders, PMS, infertility, IBS, allergies, asthma, repetitive stress injuries, post-stroke recovery, diabetic neuropathy and several other conditions.
She did further training in Acupuncture for Facial Rejuvenation and Tui na (therapeutic massage technique of Chinese Medicine).

For more than 10 years, Karen has been a devoted practitioner of Yoga and holds a certificate in Yoga Therapy with training in Classical and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy. This training and experience gives Karen an understanding of the body that is useful for understanding the patterns and pathologies experienced by her patients. She also uses Yoga Therapy to compliment her acupuncture treatments which gives patients the opportunity to maintain an active role in achieving their goal of heath outside of the treatment room.
Her training in Massage Therapy and Tui na aids in her understanding and treatment of musculoskeletal and orthopedic disorders.

Karen sees patients both in her private practice in Union Square and at New York Community Acupuncture Center in Midtown.
